MTR announced today (28th) that the latest cost estimate for the Shazhong Line is HK $ 82.993 billion, which is an increase of HK $ 12.172 billion from the original estimate of HK $ 70.827 billion, which is less than the estimated increase of approximately 16.5 billion issued in December 2017.

MTR also said that the cost estimate was lowered than announced in December 2017 because of the implementation of strict cost control and the continuous progress of the midline-related projects since December 2017. Therefore, there is a greater degree of certainty about the cost.
