After announcing that the risk of expansion of the new COVID-19 coronavirus went from "high" to "very high" worldwide, the director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, gave 10 advice to the population to prevent the spread of the virus.

In Argentina, however, no confirmed cases of people affected by the new coronavirus were reported.

Next, the WHO advice:

1- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or antiseptic gel. The virus can be transmitted by touching contaminated surfaces, so this action reduces the risks.

2- Regularly clean certain surfaces , such as desks in workplaces or in the kitchen.

3- Ensure that the information on COVID-19 comes from reliable sources , such as national public health agencies, medical professionals, or WHO itself. Know, for example, that the disease usually begins with a fever or dry cough, not with nasal discomfort.

4- Avoid travel if you have a fever or cough . If you experience symptoms during a flight, immediately notify the crew, and once at home, contact health professionals, informing the travel history.

5- Cough or sneeze on the bend of the elbow (not on the hand) or use a handkerchief that should be immediately thrown in the trash, then wash your hands.

6 - If you have more than 60 years or health problems such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory or diabetes, there is a greater risk that the picture is more serious before a hypothetical infection, so extra precautions should be taken , avoiding crowded areas or places where there could be contact with potential patients.

7- In case of feeling bad, stay at home and call a doctor or a healthcare professional, who should ask the symptoms, where they have been and who they had contact with.

8- In case of contracting the disease, staying at home, separating from the rest of the family, even when eating and sleeping, and using different cutlery and plates .

9- Call the doctor if you notice shortness of breath.

10- In case of living in an affected community, it is understandable to feel anxiety. Find a way to help her, and also learn how to ensure safety in workplaces , schools or places of worship.
