Another innkeeper moves to Waitzinger Bräu on Miesbacher Stadtplatz. The Italian Romolo Marchetti, known for his restaurant in Schaftlach, will open a ristorante there.

Miesbach / Schaftlach - owner Korbinian Kohler is more than satisfied. "There are only a few that I can do that," says the entrepreneur. But Romolo Marchetti, who has been running a Ristorante in Schaftlach for nine years, believes he can do the job. "For me it's the best Italian in the district," says Kohler. He likes to go there to eat with his wife.

The task, however, is not an easy one. As landlords of the Waitzinger Bräu, innkeepers threw in the towel again and again after a very short time, most recently in spring 2018 by Frenchman Tanguy Doron. His dream of the Bavarian brasserie failed due to a lack of response.

After a bankruptcy series, Kohler had already given up the search for a host

Kohler, who also owns the Hotel Bachmair-Weissach and the Hotel Bussi Baby in Bad Wiessee, did not want to look for a new host for his inn in the best location after the bankruptcy series. As reported, Kohler negotiated with a facility that wanted to create a meeting place for addicts and those at risk as well as their relatives in the spacious ground floor rooms. This failed due to the rejection of the Miesbach City Council. He decidedly rejected a change of use, imposed a change ban and gave Kohler a recommendation: He should try a sixth attempt with a host and set the rent "lower in monetary terms". An advance that still annoys Kohler today. He asked for just six euros per square meter, reports Kohler. "A ridiculous price." In general, he quarrels with politics. That is why he now wants to get involved and is on the CSU list for the Gmunder municipal council, adds Kohler.

Ristorante in the left part of the Waitzinger Bräu

However, the Gmunder has moved away from its announcement that the Waitzinger Bräu will remain permanently empty. "Because I now have a top-class host."

However, the entire dining room is too large for Marchetti's Ristorante. That is why he will only use the left part with about 70 seats and the beer garden. Kohler wants to rent the right part as office space - and hopes that the city will be able to accommodate the changes in use.

Days of the Schaftlacher Romolo are numbered

+

Romolo Marchetti (64) is looking forward to the start in Miesbach. The days of his restaurants in Schaftlach are numbered. The owners of the house have already approved the demolition of the house. Although not only apartments but also a restaurant are to be built on the property near the train station, Marchetti cannot wait for that. He doesn't think about retirement, his team consists of eight employees. "My job is my love," he says. In Miesbach's center, he is convinced, there is still plenty of room for an Italian restaurant, despite the competition in the neighborhood. Marchetti in Miesbach does not want to change its concept and menu.

Marchetti does not want to say anything about the end of the day in Schaftlach, with reference to ongoing discussions with the house owners. One thing is certain: he will be missed very much. The Romolo is Schaftlachs last restaurant.
