Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar Jaafari, affirmed that the Turkish regime did not abide by its pledges in Astana's understandings on establishing de-escalation areas in Syria and continued to support terrorist organizations in them.

Al-Jaafari added that the Turkish regime had worked for years to recruit, train and arm thousands of terrorists, facilitated their infiltration into Syria, planned their crimes and provided them with military, political and media support, stressing that Syria rejects the criminal Erdogan's regime to use Syrian civilians as fuel in its war against them or use them as a tool to pressure and blackmail European countries.

Al-Jaafari stressed that Syria calls on European countries to respect their obligations under international law and not to engage in flawed deals with the rogue Turkish regime at the expense of the Syrian people, noting that Erdogan's regime has turned the Turkish army into an arm of the terrorist Brotherhood alongside terrorist groups in Syria and Libya.

Al-Jaafari said that the Turkish regime has made humanitarian crossings corridors for the introduction of thousands of its soldiers and military mechanisms, and before them tens of thousands of foreign terrorists and weapons, including chemical weapons.

Al-Jaafari added: Syria will continue to confront the Turkish aggression that supports terrorism, protect its people, defend its unity, and adhere to its sovereignty and its independent national decision, stressing that the Security Council should shoulder its responsibilities and put an end to the adventures of the Erdogan regime that threaten regional and international peace and security.
