Eurasburg - Almost a year ago, the inn in Limm closed the doors after 100 years. The bridge owner has been looking for a new tenant in Wolfratshausen for months. Now the stove in the Landgasthof Berg is out. At least temporarily. The traditional economy may not disappear completely from the gastronomic map, but the classic catering business should be over for the time being.

Hans FischhaberThe restaurateur struggles with politics and bureaucracy.

From March 1st, the excursion restaurant in the Eurasburg district of Berg will be closed for a few weeks. It should continue before Easter, but with a greatly changed offer. "There is no more warm food at any time of the day or night," says Hans Fischhaber junior. "A little coffee, maybe a small dish of the day," the landlord of the country inn outlines a possible concept for the future.

There is a lot of frustration and annoyance when the 48-year-old explains the reasons for his decision. For one thing, guest behavior has changed. To put it bluntly: They run into the booth at the weekend, but hardly anyone comes to eat during the week. "People don't go into business all year round and are surprised when they can't find a place for communion where they can celebrate," said Fischhaber sarcastically. But what worries him the most is the mountain of administrative work, for example, which has increased steadily in recent years. "Everything has been pushed on us," moans the landlord, who has been running the restaurant with a short break since 1994. "It started with the ban on smoking, then the regulars' tables never came."

The current difficult personnel situation does the rest. Nobody wants to work in the catering trade for 1400 to 2000 euros net. In addition, there is a tax policy that is difficult to understand, for example, that a catering company (“which produces 500 to 600 meals in one go somewhere in the industrial area”) only charges seven percent VAT, while every innkeeper has to pay 19 percent. "It's not right at the back and in the front," the innkeeper criticizes a policy that leads him to the conclusion: "Germany doesn't want rural restaurants."

Annoyed by the increasingly complex bureaucracy, frustrated by the increasingly difficult personnel situation, it was certain for Fischhaber at some point: "Not with me anymore!" Now there is a break in the house. In the time he wanted to think about how things will go in the future. In any case, rooms with breakfast can be booked as before. And it is quite likely that you will still be able to enjoy the wonderful panoramic view of the mountains from the garden terrace in summer. With coffee and cake, because at sunset the garden chairs could already be folded up. Closes earlier in the evening.

He will continue to host the funerals. After all, the cemetery is across the street and the funeral seldom takes more than coffee, cake and a beer afterwards. According to Fischhaber, he also opens “for drinks” for an election event that has already been booked by the Joint Voters' Association.

Also interesting: free coffee for the needy

Otherwise, according to one idea, he could imagine offering the venue as a “event location” for larger events. He himself contributed the drinks. "Then I arrange a party service for the food," says Fischhaber. "We can't compete with them - we have the wrong tax rate for that."
