The attack in Hanau (Hesse) occurred on Wednesday evening (February 19, 2020) at around 10 p.m. Tobias R. fired the first shots in the city center. The crime scene was the hookah bar "Midnight". There he killed three people. He then drove to the Arena Sports Bar, a shisha bar in the Kesselstadt district. There he also did a bloodbath and killed six people.

Later that night the police found Tobias R. dead in his apartment in Hanau. There, the investigators also discovered a second body, which was the perpetrator's mother. Tobias R.'s father remains unharmed.
