After the meeting in Matignon, an exercise in transparency in the Senate to better understand and master the crisis linked to the coronavirus. As demanded Thursday by Gérard Larcher, a debate will be organized in the Upper House next Wednesday, being preceded by a government statement.

Faced with the multiplication of cases of patients, the elected representatives of the opposition took advantage of the closed session of Matignon to express their questions and explain their way of understanding the epidemic which is progressing in the country. However, they wanted to put public polemics in the closet.

The president of the LR group in the Senate, Bruno Retailleau, for example considered " that there is an urgent need for national unity ". “ I have often criticized the president for not associating party presidents and group presidents. It is important to show a process of transparency and to associate all the parties to face this epidemic. This does not prevent parliamentary control ”.

The elected representative of Vendée is particularly interested in the health part of the subject, but also economic. He asked the Prime Minister for a national sovereignty plan to relocate the production of penicillin to France and Europe. And he would like the big cities not to be privileged to the detriment of the rest of France as regards the management of the crisis and the number of beds available in hospitals.
Damien Abad, president of the LR group in the Assembly also questioned a possible screening at airports with a temperature control for people from countries at risk.
