Five people were killed today after a fire broke out in a residential complex in the city of Qom, south of the Iranian capital, Tehran.
"A fire broke out in the Sahar housing complex, which contains 225 housing units, resulting in the death of five people," Abbas Jaafari, director of the Fire Department of the Municipality of Qom, said in a statement carried by the Fars News Agency.
Jaafari added that more than 160 people were evacuated from the housing complex, and 38 of them were transferred to hospitals due to respiratory problems.
And 29 people were injured and more than 100 shops were damaged due to a fire that broke out in a historical market in the Iranian city of Tabriz last May.
