The director of the press room Matteo Bruni nevertheless specifies that François celebrated Mass as every morning in the chapel of his residence of Sainte-Marthe, located within the walls of the Vatican City, and greeted participants. The pope also maintained the meetings taking place in his hotel residence.
A private audience was notably planned with the President of the European Parliament, the Italian Davide Sassoli. The spokesman did not repeat a point on the state of health of the 83-year-old pope.
Pope Francis, who appeared cold on Wednesday during outdoor celebrations, had canceled his presence on Thursday at a mass in the monumental major basilica of St. John Lateran, officially for a " slight indisposition ".
On Sunday, he should in principle go on a spiritual retreat with the whole Roman Curia in Ariccia (not far from Rome), after having celebrated the Angelus from the window of the Apostolic Palace, at noon (11:00 GMT), Saint Peter's Square.
