School enrollment for future first graders in the Weilheim-Schongau district is at the end of March. What is good to know? We have compiled the information.

Weilheim-Schongau - Carnival holidays are still there, the next school year is already casting its shadow. As the state school authority in Weilheim reports, the school enrollment of the first graders takes place at the primary schools in the district from March 23 to 27. Parents need to know that now.

All children born between October 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014 are required to attend school from the coming school year. Those children who were born between October 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014 and are to be put on hold must also be registered because, according to the parents, they are not yet able to go to school.

Birth dates from July 1 to September 30, 2014 fall in the school corridor

The same applies to children who fall into the so-called school corridor, i.e. were born between July 1 and September 30, 2014. According to the school authorities, they also go through the enrollment procedure as normal.

All children who were put on hold in the previous year must also be registered, either because they were unable to attend school or because they attended kindergarten for a year longer because of the school corridor.

For children who were born between October 1 and December 31, 2014, parents can request that they should start school from the coming school year, the school office points out. If the child was born after January 1, 2015, an earlier school enrollment requires not only the parents' application but also a school psychological report.

Children cannot simply be enrolled in a school

Parents cannot simply choose which primary school they want to register their child with. The enrollment is based on the school sprinkle, the school board points out. However, for "compelling personal reasons", parents can apply to have their child go to another school. This must be done when enrolling. "Forms for this are available from the school management."

There are registration dates at the respective school

Parents can find out the exact enrollment dates from the respective schools. Children with special educational needs are registered at the responsible primary school or directly at the closest support center. These include the Special Education Center Altenstadt, the Special Education Center / Janusz-Korczak School Penzberg, the private support center of the Don Bosco sisters Rottenbuch and the Special Education Center Weilheim - Schule am Gögerl.
