A crystal clear Quasar for Girard-Perregaux

NEW - The venerable watchmaker returns to the limelight with a dazzling piece with a sapphire glass case made in Switzerland.

Nice coup for a great and respectable brand that had recently been (too) discreet in the watchmaking horizon. One year after having unveiled its Quasar, a modern and revisited version of its Trois Ponts d'Or models of yesteryear in Neo-Bridge mode, here is a Quasar Light transparent to the extreme that we absolutely did not expect.

Girard-Perregaux

A special feature of this limited edition of 18 pieces, at around 300,000 euros per unit: a 46 mm diameter sapphire crystal case made in Switzerland, freeing up the view of the most iconic movement of the manufacture. Suddenly, its sparkling whirlwind seems weightless inside an invisible case, designed from a single sapphire glass disc, with sculpted and polished curves resulting from more than 200 hours of work. The sapphire "box" crystal offers a 360 ° view of the movement and its ruthenium barrel. Selected for its brilliance close to diamonds, ruthenium is a rare metal belonging to the platinum group and whose production is extremely limited. Its crystals radiate in all directions of the watch. The result is dazzling modernity and elegance.

Girard-Perregaux

Here, the aerial Neo-Bridges reveal the smallest details of the mechanism and ensuring a presence both subtle and strong on the wrist. The Tourbillon cage is driven by a unidirectional automatic winding system with a white gold micro-rotor. Visible through the sapphire crystal “box”, the latter is engraved with an eagle - instantly recognizable signature of the Swiss Manufacture.
