The spread of the Corona virus, or “Covid 19” mutated virus, is expanding with new infections recorded around the world, as many countries are stepping up precautionary measures in terms of flights or land and raising health preparedness in an attempt to contain the deadly virus.
Among the confirmed cases recorded today with the virus, two new infections in Thailand, raising the total number of people infected with this disease there to 42, according to Reuters news agency quoted the Thai Ministry of Health.
And in Iceland, the first case of the virus appeared yesterday, according to the German newspaper, Deutsche Welle, of a man who was in northern Italy a short time ago.
In the United States, the New York Times revealed that there were two cases that showed similar symptoms to the Corona virus in the states of Oregon and California, amid fears of the spread of the virus throughout the United States.
And California Governor Gavin Newsom announced yesterday that the state had recorded 33 positive cases of the new corona virus so far, pointing to putting 8,400 people under observation to monitor any symptoms of the emerging coronavirus after their arrival.
In Russia, the competent authorities put five people in quarantine in Moscow today, in a preventive measure against the spread of the virus.
In China, the Chinese Health Committee announced that it had detected 427 new cases of Corona virus inside the country yesterday, compared to 327 cases the day before, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in China to 79,251 cases so far.
In addition, South Korea recorded 813 new cases of corona today, bringing the total number of cases to 3150, according to the South Korean Quarantine Measures Center.
In the context of the precautionary measures that most of the countries of the world started to take to reduce the spread of Corona, Switzerland canceled yesterday the Geneva Motor Show and the Basel Watch Gallery in addition to all major public or private events, including sports meetings and carnivals.
And 62 countries have decided to restrict the entry of travelers from South Korea by either banning entry or tightening quarantine measures due to fears of the new Corona virus, according to the South Korean Arirang TV network.
The World Health Organization yesterday expressed concern about the continuous increase in the number of new cases and countries affected by the Corona virus, noting that it raised its assessment of the seriousness of its spread and its consequences to a degree "very high" globally, while the Director of the organization Tidros Adhanum Giberius announced that more than 20 vaccines were restricted Development is global and many treatments are undergoing laboratory testing, with results expected in the coming weeks.
