Peißenberg - "There is already a lot of rubbish in Peißenberg," complains Mayor Manuela Vanni. But how can the population be made aware of the problem? That was what the “Clean Peißenberg” competition was about, which was initiated by the Peißenberg Citizens' Association six months ago in the market council. Participants should develop striking campaigns against waste pollution. Eleven proposals were received in the town hall, the top three, which were selected by a jury from market councils, were now presented with cash prizes.

The environmental company of the Peißenberg secondary school took first place. Teacher Elfi Knissel's protégés designed educational logos for correct waste disposal, and they also developed building instructions for a cross-tensioned net catcher over the Ammer. The wooden structure could collect washed-up plastic parts and thus contribute to water conservation.

Second place went to the Peissenberg CSU branch for its “environmental case”

For the first place, the pupils could look forward to over 1000 euros. The amount is to be invested in new environmental projects. Among other things, the students are currently working on special oilcloths that are to be used as a substitute for sandwich paper or plastic bags. The second place went to the Peißenberg CSU local association, which had put together an “environmental case”. It contains utensils and explanations on various topics such as “recycling”, “waste separation” and “environmental standards”. The Christian Socialists want to invest their profit of 500 euros in the production of further “environmental cases”. The local schools and kindergartens in particular are to be equipped with a copy. The third prize, endowed with 300 euros, was won by Sabine Albrecht, who drew pictures of well-known Peißenberger motifs and documented how clean it could look, for example, around the miner's memorial chapel on the Neue Bergehalde. Each picture was also provided with a small saying (for example, "I am the bunting and not a trash can").

Mayor Vanni's conclusion on the “Clean Peißenberg” competition: “I hope that the topic of 'waste prevention' will become an issue in the minds of the citizens. A place where there is no rubbish, that would be the goal. "
