Fleeing the assassin Skotos, the four adventurers try to reach the city of Yerevan. Circé the priestess, Zéna the magician, Iptar the thief (accompanied by his wife Xérays) as well as Shakk Jirakh the warrior enter a wooden hut, in the heart of this unique place that is the Garden of the Gods. They save Élise, a young village girl, from the clutches of a sorcerer armed with a blowgun and wearing a strange mask.
The latter, as a thank you, welcomes them to her village, in full celebration of the Feast of Roses and the goddess Myriam. They receive from the hand of a native a silver whistle capable, according to legend, of invoking a smuggler to cross the neighboring lake. Before dark, they also win an archery competition!
In the morning, our heroes finally decide to unseal the Sacred Book of the Third Throne obtained from Basilis. In addition to the compilation of the texts of Nestor and Myriam, five pages detail a known tale whose end has been modified. After reading this, the little company is convinced: you have to go to Yerevan, talk to the librarian to get a secret word before going to the Pic de l'Effroi ...

But for that, you must first cross a black lake ... Thanks to the whistle, a smuggler appears and helps them to reach the Sacred Island. This is where the Cult of the Owl is practiced, a spiritual and contemplative way of life that has raised many questions among our four backpackers. Questions that priest Jean Baguette hastened to answer.
Their route then leads them to the Rest of the Traveler stop, where the opportunity arises to win a drinking game and to change their draft horses for steeds. They then choose to go through the Tomb of the First Kings to continue their journey. Alas, this trapped tomb will be that of the four horses (which Shakk had insisted on passing under the mountain) and of Iptar's wife, whose bloody death will haunt our thief until the end of his life. With a few priceless items in their pockets and a desecration on their conscience, everyone finally reaches Yerevan!
Iptar is unfortunately no longer welcome in its hometown. Small consolation: Skotos has been checked; the inhabitants of the city forbid him any violence. Shakk, Circe, Zena and Iptar are no longer threatened by his blade. However, what will they do with the prophecy of the Third Throne?
