Essen - An 81-year-old drove into a crowd at a tram stop in Essen. Eleven people were injured, three of them were in mortal danger , said a police spokeswoman on Saturday.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m., the local police received the emergency call that a BMW had crashed into passersby. At the wheel of the vehicle was an 81-year-old senior, next to her was an elderly gentleman as a passenger. The woman was injured in the crash, just as the passenger was doing, was initially unknown.

The scene of the accident is a tram stop. According to a spokeswoman for the police, the bus stopped at the Gervinusstrasse stop and the guests got out. At that moment, the elderly woman drove unchecked into the people getting out . There are no signs of braking at the scene of the accident.
According to the WDR, passers-by eyewitnesses said that they flew several meters through the air. The accident car, however, shows clear traces of the crash. In addition, several shoes would be on the street .
