The Supreme Court of Justice issued a statement on Saturday to clarify that it had no responsibility in the computer shutdown that paralyzed the activity of the Judiciary for almost a week.

The highest court explained that it is not in charge of the administration or maintenance of the LEX 100 system that, according to the Télam agency, at the end of January recorded a ruling that prevented judicial activity.

"The Council of the Magistracy and the Supreme Court of Justice clarify that the databases of the LEX 100 Judicial System used by the Judiciary are housed in a technological platform belonging to the Council of the Magistracy, who has the sole responsibility of the administration and the maintenance of the LEX 100 System ", indicates the text disseminated by the Court.

The statement also states that the Magistracy Council received a guide from the Oracle company to evaluate the possibility of migrating the databases currently in the LEX 100 to a new computer equipment that "was acquired by the Supreme Court with the purpose of contributing to improve the functioning of the system "of that software.

However, it was clarified that this management with the Oracle company was carried out "without a formal offer" and that "the Supreme Court has not suggested or considered the contracting of the services" of that company "nor has it taken responsibility for the administration and the maintenance of the LEX 100 "System.

"The Supreme Court has committed itself with the Council of the Magistracy to collaborate to carry out the migration of the databases to the new computer equipment," they added.

In this regard, they stressed that this management will be carried out "with the personnel of the General Systems Directorate and will be carried out through the coordinated and joint work of the technical areas of both organizations".

The text bears the signatures of the President of the Court, Carlos Rosenkrantz, and the head of the Magistracy Council, Alberto Lugones.

The judicial blackout

At the end of January, the agency Télam confirmed that a failure in the LEX 100 computer system caused problems in the processing of cases in the courts of all national and federal jurisdictions. The problems extended for almost a week.

According to official information, the failures caused from problems to "load" the page of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation as well as impediments to access sentences, resolutions, filing of files and other data.

The LEX 100 system is used for the management of procedural proceedings (some can only be processed in this way) as notifications of resolutions, and is the subject of consultations of judges, prosecutors, defenders and lawyers and individuals.

The "fall" of the system also generated problems in cases of "urgency" that have resulted in the authorization of the judicial fair such as release, domestic violence or issues related to the right to health.

Nor did the registration of income from the case and transfer of files from one agency to another, or requests for reports that the courts make among themselves work at the national or federal justice level.

The "computer blackout", as described by the Union of Employees of the Justice of the Nation (UEJN) was denounced by the union before the Council of the Magistracy of the Nation, responsible for maintaining the "hardware" used by federal justice and National of the whole country.
