Homberg / Efze - A tragic accident occurred in the Homberger Efzewiesen in Schwalm-Eder-Kreis (Hesse) at around 5 p.m. on Saturday evening (29.02.2020). Three children aged ten and twins aged four played near the allotment garden on the Efze when the four-year-old twins fell into the water.

While one of the children was barely able to save itself on the bank, the other child drifted off to Hohlebachmühle. It was taken out of the water by rescue units and resuscitated in the ambulance.

Despite all the doctors' efforts, the child died in the ambulance. The other child was taken to a hospital in Kassel with hypothermia.

A large number of rescue workers from the German Red Cross, fire brigade, police and flow rescuers from the DLRG were deployed. District Administrator Winfried Becker also found out about the situation on site.
