The United States and the armed Taliban movement today signed an agreement to end the war in Afghanistan.

According to the French Press Agency, the agreement signed by the American negotiator Zalmay Khalilzad, the head of the Taliban political bureau and its deputy leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Brader, in the presence of US Secretary of State Mark Pompeo and representatives of dozens of countries in the capital of the Qatar Sheikhdom, Doha, stipulates the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan within fourteen Months.

The agreement also stipulates that the Taliban pledge to sever their relations permanently with the terrorist organization Al Qaeda and enter into negotiations with the Afghan government by the first of next March.

According to the agreement, the American forces will gradually withdraw from Afghanistan, with the number of its soldiers reduced from 13,000 to 8,600 in a few months, according to an initial timetable and conditional on the Taliban’s commitment to fight the terrorist organization “ISIS” and progress in negotiations between the Afghan parties.

The United States occupied Afghanistan in the year 2001 under the pretext of fighting the Taliban and al-Qaeda terrorists after the events of September 11, to turn this poor country into a focus of terrorist organizations.
