Maduro called Guaidó "bobolongo" 0:24

(CNN Spanish) - The Government of Colombia urged the international community to take measures to protect the president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, recognized as interim president of the country by more than 50 countries, after this Saturday, while Guaidó was on a walk through popular areas of Barquisimeto, armed people showed up, according to the Guaidó team.

“This fact is a new example of the systematic pattern of human rights violation used by the regime. Therefore, Colombia once again urges the international community to continue taking measures that prevent the regime from attacking and using force against the only democratic institution that still survives in Venezuela and that Juan Guaidó embodies, ”the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday .

MIRA: Suspended walk of Juan Guaidó due to the presence of armed people

This Saturday, Guaidó, was at an event in the popular areas of Barquisimeto, in the Central West of the country, when armed people were presented who, as denounced by the Guaidó team, are part of groups affected by the government of Nicolás Maduro.

This information could not be independently confirmed by CNN.

Images disseminated by the Guaidó press team show the moment when armed people showed up at the place. The Guaidó press team says it was targeted by one of these people. They emphasize that in the La Gallera sector they had been received by some two thousand people, but that due to the presence of armed persons, the Guaidó street activity had to be suspended for security reasons. At the moment the authorities of the Lara state government, affecting the Government of Maduro, have not ruled on this situation.

The Lima Group also expressed its condemnation of the situation:

“The governments of Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela, members of the Lima Group, condemn the acts of violence committed by paramilitary groups of the Nicolás Maduro dictatorship , against the President in Charge Juan Guaidó, the town that accompanied him and members of the press that covered the activity in the city of Barquisimeto, Lara state ”.

The group called the situation in Venezuela "intolerable" and reiterated that the way out of the crisis is with free and fair presidential elections.

The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, tweeted by repudiating what happened in Barquisimeto and shared a statement from the communications office of Guaidó informing them of the facts.

Today @NicolasMaduro sent collective to a peaceful protest led by @jguaido. They intimidated the crowds by pointing guns at them. Unfortunately an innocent 16 year old was injured.
