At least 50 people were killed Sunday in an attack by armed bandits in three villages in northern Nigeria's Kaduna state, local police and residents said.

A hundred armed men, suspected of belonging to a gang specializing in cattle theft and kidnappings, launched the attack, according to local police. An MP from Kaduna and other residents said at least 50 bodies had been found, saying the death toll was still tentative.
