Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that his country does not intend to go to war against anyone, but at the same time creates conditions that discourage other countries from thinking of waging war on them.
"We do not intend to go to war against anyone, but we are working to create conditions in the defense field that will not come to anyone's mind until they consider launching a war against us," Putin told a new episode of the 20-question program of Vladimir Putin.
Putin stressed that he is ready to hold discussions with US President Donald Trump and anyone else on the fate of the New START offensive, indicating that a refusal to extend this treaty that ends next year will be a mistake and Moscow is ready to extend it.
In response to a question about the United States' unwillingness to agree to extend the treaty, Putin said that this may have been due to the way Washington has interpreted security and ways to maintain it.
Putin said that Washington spends much more on defense than Moscow, noting that Russia ranks seventh in the world in terms of the size of the military budget after the United States and others, noting that Russian military spending is declining from year to year while the spending of other countries is increasing.
