Italian authorities announced Wednesday that school education and academic institutions will be reinstated until mid-March to stop the spread of the Corona virus.
The Italian Minister of Health announced at a press conference the establishment of additional closure areas, known as "red zones", in the south and central of the country. New restrictions on sports and cultural events were also imposed.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the virus in Italy has risen to 79 and the number of people now infected is 2,502 - the highest figure outside of East Asia. Cases of the virus have been diagnosed in 20 different provinces, from Sicily in the south to Lombardy in the north.
