The lawyer has already requested psychiatric expertise from the politician.

New twist in the Griveaux affair, almost three weeks after the withdrawal of the politician from the Parisian municipal campaign. This Thursday, Juan Branco announced on Twitter that in the context of this affair, he was "once again" advising Piotr Pavlenski, the Russian artist who claims the broadcasting of videos of a sexual nature by Benjamin Griveaux. On the other hand, he will not deal with the file of alleged violence during Christmas Eve.

"Piotr Pavlenski sent a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt to the investigating judge on Monday , " Juan Branco told Le Figaro . The lawyer will defend the Russian alongside Me Yassine Bouzrou. "He will follow the procedure, and I will deal more with the political and cultural dimensions, linked to the explanation of Piotr Pavlenski's gesture."

Juan Branco had initially given up defending Piotr Pavlenski at the request of the president of Paris, in particular because of "the absence of distance between his mission of lawyer and the action reproached to his client" . He explained to Le Figaro that he had changed his mind "because Piotr Pavlenski [asked him again to be his lawyer" and "because the president of the bar concluded that there was no conflict of interest" .

Branco requests psychiatric expertise from Griveaux

The first initiative of Juan Branco as counsel to Piotr Pavlenski is astonishing to say the least. Thursday, he sent a letter to the investigating judge to demand that a psychiatric assessment of Benjamin Griveaux be carried out.

According to him, this expertise would “examine the reliability of speech [by Benjamin Griveaux], the nature of his pathologies, [...] his direct or indirect responsibility in the distribution of videos and the consequences that such a report to world could have had in the case where, without the intervention of my client - who always indicated to act in order to reveal information of general interest - his ascent to the power had not been seen in this stopped framework » .

A few days ago, the investigating judge in charge of the case, for her part, ordered a psychological examination of Alexandra de Taddeo, the companion of Piotr Pavlenski. This 29-year-old young woman admits being the recipient of Benjamin Griveaux's intimate videos, but denies having participated in their dissemination. Like her spouse, she was indicted for “invasion of privacy” and “dissemination without the person's consent of sexual images”.
