Three months after the jewel robbery from the historic Green Vault, the Dresden public prosecutor and the special commission "Epaulette" turn to the public with details.

  • The robbery of jewels from the historic "Green Vault" in Dresden shocked the public at the end of November 2019.
  • Art treasures of inestimable value have been stolen from showcases.
  • The special commission "Epaulette" has been searching for the perpetrators for three months.

Dresden - The Dresden public prosecutor, together with the Dresden police, has published details and new findings on the robbery of jewels from the "Green Vault".

According to their own statements, the investigators were able to work out new knowledge about the crime vehicle , as can be read in a current press release. The perpetrators had accordingly used an Audi S6 (sports version of the Audi A6) to escape and later set the car on fire in an underground car park on Kötzschenbroder Straße.

Unlike the Audi A6, the Audi S6 has, among other things, a radiator grille with vertical chrome struts , an exhaust system with four tailpipes , exterior mirrors with a silver-colored housing and an LED daytime running light in the bumper, according to the police.

The Audi S6 (built in 2006) was therefore deregistered in 2017 and sold by a private person to an unknown person in August 2019. A young man picked up the car from the seller in Magdeburg .

According to their own information, the investigators assume that the collector is connected to the later burglary in the Green Vault in Dresden. The police have now published a phantom image of the suspect and is asking the population for help.

Jewel robbery: Plunge into the Green Vault planned for the long term

In connection with the break-in into the “Historic Green Vault”, the public prosecutor and police are now assuming at least seven offenders . This assessment resulted from a case analysis by the specialists of the State Criminal Police Office in Saxony. Further investigations and extensive video evaluations would have confirmed this thesis.

Who saw the getaway vehicle?

The escape vehicle was changed in color shortly before the crime on November 25, 2019, the investigators suspect. The Audi was originally “stratos blue”. Witnesses would have seen such a vehicle in Dresden days before the break-in. There are indications that the perpetrators might have repainted or rewound the Audi. On the day of the break-in, the getaway vehicle was perceived as a bright vehicle with a dark roof.

The special commission is looking for clues and asks: “Who noticed a stratos blue Audi S6 in the city of Dresden the week before November 25, 2020? Are workshops known nationwide in which an Audi S6 was redesigned in color during the period in question? "

Dresden: Theft of jewels in the Green Vault

At the end of November, burglars had entered the green vault in the palace in the Saxon capital through a window. Within minutes they stole historical jewelery of great value from an exhibition showcase. Then they fled with a car. A reward of half a million euros was given for references to the unknown perpetrators.
