Starnberg - fun, games and lots of football: This is what the joint training camp for the FT Starnberg 09 youth teams in Misano, Italy, is all about. Every year during the Mardi Gras holidays, the children and teenagers go to the Adriatic town south of Rimini with coaches and supervisors. A total of 55 footballers from the D youth upwards were there this time. It was a trip with consequences : Coronavirus was detected yesterday by a supervisor.
The man in his early 40s was brought to the Starnberg Clinic by the BRK emergency services in the morning and is in a separate area there. He was picked up directly from his place of work, the Starnberg branch of the auto parts specialist ATD 5 Seen on Petersbrunner Straße.
Slight symptoms after training camp in the coronavirus risk area
"He had a little sniff nose, but otherwise no complaints," reports Christine Damm, who runs the company together with her husband Frank Damm. Because Misano is located in the Italian province of Emilia-Romagna, which has been declared a coronavirus risk area, the employee and FT advisor had it tested. "The call came from the health department and he was then no longer allowed to leave the rooms," reports Damm about yesterday morning.

The ATD branch on Petersbrunner Strasse has been closed since then - "due to illness until further notice", as can be seen on a piece of paper. However, all customers get the necessary car spare parts from ATD in Herrsching (Mühlfelder Straße 59). The workshops would continue to be supplied from there, says Christine Damm, who has had no personal contact with the employee since he returned. In the Starnberg Clinic , the man is the second infected person to be cared for there. The first case is the 45-year-old, whose positive findings were announced last Sunday. As of yesterday afternoon, these are the only two known cases in the district.
Because of Corona: Parts of the clinic have a separate entrance and are separated
"He's fine. I would not see him as a patient, ”says Starnberg's chief clinic Dr. Thomas Weiler at the request of Starnberg Mercury via the FT advisor. The hospital separated part of a ward on the ground floor to look after coronavirus cases. The two men were in isolated single rooms with wet rooms. The hospital staff only enter the room with protective suits and masks, explains Weiler. There is direct access to the outside without having to enter other stations or the main entrance.
Clinic director demands different handling of cases
Men are not treated in the classic sense. "As long as the patients show no symptoms and we have no clinical evidence, they will only be monitored," says Weiler. The clinic adheres to the requirements of authorities such as the Robert Koch Institute in all steps. However, there Weiler is rethinking one point. "I hope you decide to keep patients without symptoms in quarantine at home."
Training for Misano participants canceled as a precaution
Those responsible at FT Starnberg also strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Health Department. All trainers and supervisors who have been in Italy have now been tested, says board member Franz Holzinger. Except for one case, all the others were negative. A large proportion of the children had already been tested - no coronavirus cases had occurred with them either. However, further tests are still pending. "Children should go to school as normal when they have no symptoms," says Holzinger, who wants to use an official letter to inform FT members about the current situation. How the training will go on will be discussed internally. On Monday, the training for all Misano participants was precautionary.
