Estelle Mouzin affair: Michel Fourniret heard at length

2020-03-06T10:22:39.684Z

The serial killer has been auditioned for two days, according to Le Parisien. In the past, he has suggested that he may have been involved in the disappearance of the girl, a case for which he was indicted late last year.

Try everything for everything to hope to get the truth. According to information from the Parisian, Michel Fourniret was heard on Wednesday and Thursday by the investigating judge who took over the case of Estelle Mouzin, a young girl who disappeared in January 2003 when she returned from school. The serial killer's hearing is scheduled to end on Friday, the newspaper said.

The challenge today is twofold. First, it is a question of obtaining true confessions from Michel Fourniret who, until now, has always refused. Then, to know the circumstances of the death of the little girl and the place where her remains rests today.

For many years, Michel Fourniret had taken refuge behind an alibi to clear customs: he claimed that he was that day his home in Belgium, several hundred kilometers from Seine-et-Marne, where Estelle disappeared . Proof of his statements: he had made a phone call from his home to his son, whose birthday was. Appeal which had not succeeded but whose technical verifications had proved the existence. A version confirmed by his wife, Monique Olivier.

Until last November. Monique Olivier had ended up dropping this alibi. Facing the judge, she had let go that it was she who had made the famous phone call, at the request of her husband. She really did not know where the latter was, who had left on a pick-up trip he was used to. "What is at stake for her?" None, said his lawyer, Me Delgenes. She has already been sentenced to life, so she does not risk a bigger sentence. She was not there, so we cannot blame her for this story. ” Monique Olivier was, finally, free to speak. Heard again in January 2020, she had declared to the judge that in her opinion, it was Michel Fourniret who had killed Estelle Mouzin.

Unhealthy game

During these long years of investigation, Michel Fourniret had, on several occasions, drawn attention to him, raising, without being asked, the Mouzin case. Each time to immediately state that he was not involved. But for some observers of the file, it must undoubtedly be seen as a perverse game of the serial killer. The latter, who holds in high esteem his criminal career, likes that the investigators bring him evidence, in the absence of what, he plays with them.

Fourniret had finally been indicted, after Olivier's reversal, in November 2019, almost 17 years after the facts. In the judge's office, he had chained the enigmatic sentences, saying he did not remember, because of his age - he will be 78 years old in a few days - while not excluding being the cause of the disappearance of the little girl. A tortuous and unhealthy reasoning of which "the ogre of the Ardennes" has the secret and with which the magistrate who questions him must play to reach a dialogue. All while being careful not to fall into the traps of convoluted phrasing of the criminal.
