Gabriel Heinze leaves Velez. The coach announced at the press conference this Friday that next Monday in Santa Fe against Union he will lead his last game at the institution. This way he will complete the Super League but will leave before the start of the Super League Cup.

The set of Liniers is one of the third in the championship, behind and go and Boca; It has 36 units, like Lanús, Racing and Argentinos.

"Monday is going to be my last game in front of this institution. This club takes a little piece of my heart. Velez gave me much more than I could give him. That is why this cycle ends that I will take with me. I thank all the people in the club, "said Gringo.

💬 Heinze: "I like to deserve the triumphs. I like to go looking for that merit apart from the result. We all like to win, then each coach will have his way of achieving those triumphs."

In the hands of Heinze, Vélez lived several ups and downs but his cycle was able to empower youth players, print an offensive style to the team and leave behind the problems with the average.

In his last public statements, the DT had expressed annoyance at the sale of Gastón Giménez to the MLS and questioned the leaders for agreeing to transfer in the middle of the championship.

"One is going to do everything possible to win in Santa Fe and positionally leave the institution up there. If nothing happens, it will cover everything important and beautiful that we live in this tournament; but we will do everything possible to get the win, "added the DT after announcing his departure to the surprise of those present.

Although it is premature to speak of replacements, a logical candidate soon appeared on the scene to take the place that Heinze will leave. This is Mauricio Pellegrino, a man identified with the institution, who is free after directing in the Leganés of the First Division of Spain.

Pellegrino had been one of the options that San Lorenzo had to replace Diego Monarriz but he did not prosper.

Another candidate who is also wanted in Liniers is Eduardo Dominguez, who has not directed since March 2019 when he left Montevideo National.
