The Officers Against Democracy

The initiative of the party led by three chiefs of staff - with the same lieutenant chief of staff Golan in the camp - to enact a Bibi-driven law, is assassination of the democratic order. This is the end of the season sale, with the role of bilingual pistachio Yair Lapid and Ofer Shelach. The four generals display a never-ending coup, a coup that is stuck in the middle, and so it has been producing for another year and more mutations that the political culture in Israel has not yet seen.

The Blue and White Party is based on anti-democratic military values, with a deep background in the cultural-ideological history of Israeli society since 1948. The military offensive against legal democratic rule began in May-July-2016, almost four years ago. The group of chiefs of staff and security officials who are now attacking the political system began the political shift during the 2010 Ashkenazi-Mandelblitz-Harpaz affair, and has no connection to today's IDF leadership. Boaz Harpaz then claimed in an interview with Eila Hasson that it was the "start-up" of Prime Minister Ashkenazi for the prime minister. The media openly encouraged the officers against the government.

Today, it is hard to remember what led Ha'aretz's media to lead in the spring of summer 2016 an open debate about a military coup. What terrible crisis (Alur Azaria) led Gen. Yair Golan to compare Israeli society to Nazi Germany on the eve of Holocaust Day? And what caused him two months later to incite cadets at the conclusion of an officers' course "to be courageous (to resist) in the face of the majority's position." A high tongue that gives back to the politicization of the army against the government. Golan himself admitted that in his speech on the eve of Holocaust Day, "I wanted to challenge the leadership." In a normal democratic state he was immediately airborne. Instead, he was backed by Defense Minister Ya'alon. In a speech in an officers' course, he corresponded with a similar statement from Ya'alon before being ousted by Netanyahu. The speech was about the call of Ehud Barak's rebellion the week before, June 16, at the Herzliya Conference.

Haaretz published an article calling for a "military revolution". "The military leadership will have to decide what the ultimate threat to the security and existence of the state is. Thousands of missiles and Palestinians are knives, or a government engineer who turns into a monster that threatens the basic values of Israeli democracy."

Golan's stance was backed by incessant talk of a fascist government and Aaron Barak's perception that Israel is on the path to Nazism, and the legal system is the brake lever. In Haaretz, praise was written for the values and moderation of senior security officials compared to political leadership. Tzipi Livni said senior officers are working to "fill the leadership space." The Israeli Democracy Institute has assigned the military the role of "taking responsibility for education and shaping the future generation of the State of Israel."

But the military by its very nature is a permanent threat to democracy. For four decades, the four senior officers have exploited the structural weakness of the security decision-making system. That summer, huge articles were published about the conflict, not to say the rift, between the military echelon and Prime Minister Netanyahu. The political conclusion was that only a movement led by former chiefs of staff, when Benny Gantz's name comes up in this context, can overthrow Netanyahu.

Among senior security officials (see the headquarters of the Mossad and the Shin Bet), the view is accepted by Prime Minister Netanyahu as the main enemy of the State of Israel. These are people who lost touch with reality. Hands with Arab nationalism in order to oust the majority in Israel, instead of uniting against threats and historical policy opportunities.
