Something should move in Söcking: The start for an integrated urban development concept (ISEK) met with great interest among the residents.

Söcking - Almost 100 citizens came to the kick-off event for the Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK) Söcking in the Franz-Dietrich-Halle on Thursday evening. It should be available by the end of the year. Lively citizen participation is expressly desired. What it is all about - Starnberg Mercury gives an overview.

The idea

Quite simply, ISEK Söcking should make it more livable and lovable than it already is. So it's kind of the master plan for the district. Gwendolin Dettweiler from the Munich planning office Sweco named as goals among other things the improvement of living and living conditions as well as the living environment and public space, the reduction of traffic and environmental pollution, the further development of green areas and landscape, the strengthening of retail and economy as well as the strengthening of togetherness. "It is a great opportunity for Söcking," said Mayor Eva John.

The Schedule

At the kick-off forum on Thursday, employees from the city administration and Sweco handed out questionnaires and discussed with the Söcking people. The questionnaire is also available for download on the city's website (www.starnberg.de). It can be completed by March 15th. The planners then evaluate the information.

Another public workshop is planned before the Pentecost holidays, a thematic specialist forum before the summer holidays. The results will be presented to the city council and the public shortly before Christmas. Based on the finished ISEK, it was possible to get funding from the Free State for construction or other measures, said John.

The inventory

Dettweiler and her colleagues have already looked at Söcking and had conversations with the Ursöckingers Eugen Hartmann, Helmut Rauscher, Ludwig Mayr and Frans Plahuta. "We're slowly getting an impression," said the planner. "There are some design flaws in the street space," emphasized her colleague Tobias Backen, citing as disorderly conditions on Andechser Straße, the town center with its "relatively high degree of sealing" and the poor condition of the streets in the area of the hospital.

The collaboration

"We need you, your ideas and your interests", Dettweiler encouraged the citizens to participate. It is about reviewing the inventory and developing ideas for the future. And so planners and citizens got started on Thursday. For an hour there was discussion, questions answered and suggestions made. In the end, posters and postcards were written in full, city maps were marked and annotated. The more citizens who participate online, the larger the collection of materials.

The first results

After the hour it was time for a first summary. On the subject of “green spaces, landscape, climate”, Sebastian Pihan from Sweco said: “It is important to find a way how we can protect green spaces and at the same time make them tangible.” There are “sensitive areas” in western Söcking in particular.

Stefanie Fritz from the municipal building office summarized the results under the heading “Social issues, culture, clubs, education”. "Pubs, cafes and public spaces to meet and get to know" would also be missing. The aim should also be to improve the connection between locals and immigrants.

In “Building culture and identity”, the main focus was on upgrading the town center, said planner Tobias Backen. Opinions were very divided as to the development of the "development area between Höhenweg and Andechser Straße". "When building there, you should definitely take the visual axes into account," he said.

There were different priorities when it came to “mobility”. Bicycle traffic was the least discussed. Otherwise, requests for a traffic calming of Andechser Straße came - "however", summarized planner Iris Pollesch. Improving the clock on the bus routes is also at the top of the list - as are facilities for pedestrians, such as a walk to the gatehouse.

"Retail and business" also have development potential. Söcking is well positioned in this regard, but there is a lack of development opportunities for local companies and craft businesses, said planner Dettweiler. "Definitely get it", better to expand the retail offering.

The area “streets, paths, squares” with city architect Stephan Weinl was most surrounded. The topics ranged from the upgrading of the maypole square to the parking lot problem. "Söcking can win a lot here," emphasized Weinl.

The conclusion

"There are nuts to crack," said Eva John at the end. However, she is confident that she will get "many good solutions for Söcking" by the end of the year.
