Coronavirus: why are there so many cases and deaths in Italy?

Italy is now the second most affected country in the world behind China, with 9,172 cases including 463 deaths.


Several quarantined regions, safety distance of one meter, schools, theaters, cinemas and ski resorts closed throughout the country ... Italy took drastic measures, Sunday and Monday, to try to stem the coronavirus epidemic on its territory. And for good reason: the country is now the second most affected in the world behind China, with 9,172 cases including 463 deaths, or fifteen times more deaths than in France (25 deaths for 1,412 cases, according to the last official assessment in the evening of March 9).
