Coronavirus in Argentina: reinforced the sanitary operation in airports and borders with federal forces

The Ministry of Security will send more police, prefects and gendarmes to the airports of Ezeiza and Córdoba and the other 160 border points.

While the cases of confirmed coronavirus in the country are increasing (17), the Government decided to strengthen the presence of security forces from federal forces at airports and borders .

These are doctors who will help in the sanitary and administrative controls of people arriving in the country.

The reinforcement is for the 160 border points of the country, between airports, seaports and land borders.

The measure was ordered at the request of the Ministry of Health , against the increase in confirmed cases of coronaviruses of people arriving in the country after returning from travel, mainly in Europe.

Beyond this decision, which entered into force this Sunday, this Tuesday there will be meetings between the officials of the Health and Safety portfolios to discuss new measures.

The Minister of Health, Ginés González García, confirmed five new cases of coronavirus in Argentina, so there are already 17 infected in the country, one of them deceased.

According to the minister himself, these are two patients from Chaco, one from Río Negro, one from San Luis and one from Buenos Aires City.

The Ministry of Health reported in an official statement that, to date, Argentina does not register community transmission of the new SARS-Cov 2 coronavirus.

On Monday morning, the case of a Spanish tourist who was isolated in La Plata after presenting compatible symptoms was ruled out in the country.

In the afternoon, the protocol was activated in Ezeiza by two women who arrived in the country from Italy and were transferred to the Zonal Hospital, where they remain isolated. Another passenger who arrived on a Copa Airlines flight showed a negative result and retired by his own means to his home.

Among the 17 confirmed cases is a deceased. This is a 64-year-old man who had been traveling in France, and who died last Saturday at Argerich Hospital.
