Participants in the first conference on the methodology of scientific research and academic publishing recommended the formation of research teams from various departments of medical colleges with a central reference at the level of colleges and universities to support new researchers and their training.

Participants also called, at the conclusion of the two-day conference held by the University of Damascus and the Excellence and Creativity Commission under the title "Towards Building a Better Health", to achieve the principle of complementarity between medical colleges and to enhance the idea of ​​joint supervision of research and to define research themes for each section of the medical colleges and publish them on the site of scientific affairs For university.

Participants, who are professors, researchers, and graduate students from public and private universities, research scientific bodies and centers, stressed the need to preserve research data and samples and to adopt evidence-based medicine as an approach to clinical practice and to seek to find guidelines for work that make medical practice standard and improve the service provided to the patient.

They called for the establishment of a research unit to assist in the design and registration of research and clinical trials, and the establishment of a biostatistics unit to train researchers, as well as a technical unit specialized in correspondence with scientific organizations, which helps in accessing their databases, in addition to the necessity to compel graduate students to publish research related to their theses and encourage them to external publishing.

Conference Chairman Dr. Issam El-Khoury called on medical college students to participate in the questionnaire devoted to the conference on the faculty of medicine page on the social networking site "Facebook" to be a pillar of conferences in other specialties, while Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, head of the scientific committee of the conference, pointed out the importance of the research teams in the colleges determine the axes The basic interests and concerns of each department, calling on graduate students not to apply any technique or practice without being supported by strong and high scientific evidence.

From the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Damascus, Dr. Lama Youssef pointed out the need to provide financial support to students, especially in light of the economic blockade imposed on the Syrian people.

Sana met participants in the conference, where masters student Thuraya Al-Erian from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Damascus indicated that the conference was an opportunity to learn about the correct scientific research tools and depth in this field, while the student Yara Al-Tawil mentioned that she had benefited from the axis that focused on how to publish and write external journals and how to choose the research protocol And work in statistical data.

At the end of the conference, a number of participating lecturers and graduate students who participated in the electronic research posters exhibition accompanying the conference were honored.

The conference was launched yesterday on the runway of the University of Damascus and is considered the first of its kind in Syria, where the participants discussed the principles, methods and methodology of scientific research and methods and rules for academic publishing and its increase and improvement of research skills for students in medical colleges to be followed by other conferences during the coming period for students of engineering colleges and then students of colleges of human sciences And economic.
