Bayrischzell - make fun out of necessity: at the strong beer festival, that's allowed. Precisely because it is not really serious here. And so, on Saturday evening, the Bayrischzeller neither kept blowing snow nor the corona virus from holding their strong beer festival in the Gasthof Zur Post. The music band trumpeted to the march on time at 7 p.m., while waiters and waitresses sloshed the foaming Salvator at the tables of around 200 visitors.

Already at the entrance, meticulous attention was paid to the hygiene that the health department has prescribed for days. The sign "For disinfection" draped on a music stand left no choice for visitors in the large hall. "The district office prescribes it that way," said the cashiers with a smile. And since high-proof alcohol can have a disinfectant effect, a gentian from the Lantenhammer distillery and shot glasses were available. The guests took the "medical vaccination" calmly and with humor.

Music master Hans Thaler was pleased that they came despite the aggravating circumstances. And if the next morning one or the other wakes up with bad symptoms and has “pig eyes”, it is not the corona virus, but the strong beer. Thaler found the pastor's idea of having people sprayed by the fire department for cleaning beforehand. And then Thaler did not exaggerate in his fasting speech, which he did not refer to the local elections this year out of consideration for the municipal councils “and those who want to become one”. He had already reported in advance that the topic was too "hot" for him.

It was still warm for those present: the music in the chapel encouraged clapping and singing along. Particularly impressive: the overture to the opera "Nabucco" by Giuseppe Verdi. The solos for two clarinets by Martin Simmerl and Georg Acher as well as the Italian song "La Montanara" by trumpeter Thomas Bleier were also convincing. The young musicians, whom Thaler called "the Buam", were in no way inferior to this: Although they could hardly be seen, since sometimes their heads did not even protrude behind the music stands, they could not be ignored. So there was frenetic applause and whistles after blaring their polka "Hans stay there".

The highlights were the Gstanzl von Thaler on the zither and Hanno Acher on the guitar. The two of them have always had a deep grasp of what happened in the village last year, but which left some non-locals questioning. There was Bibi Huber's Dachshund, for example, who had disappeared under the hay bale of a farmer while looking for a hiding place in Geitau. And so they say to the melody of Mike Krüger's junk song "Bodo with the excavator": "Whoever drags on the Wiesengrund so late is the Storr with his excavator and the drowsy dog."

Then it hit political prominence. The melody of the Neue Deutsche Welle hit, “I want fun, I put my foot on the gas,” sounded in the hall: “On the Buagamoaster, there is a woman who drives like a pig,” says Thaler. And now, "oh dear, the driver's license is gone for a month," added Acher.

Town hall manager Georg Kittenrainer is also within walking distance. When he was admitted to the "quarantine zone", he hadn't drunk schnapps, but sneaked past it. One can only hope that he will hold out until the mayor is elected, even without “cleaning disinfection”.
