Line 512 runs between Erding and the airport - so far through many Erdinger city and Oberdinger municipal parts. That should change with an express bus.

Erding - Express buses between Erding and the airport could pick up speed this year. The traffic committee of the district council approved the additional scheduled traffic yesterday. The city of Erding, the municipality of Oberding and the airport are still pending, but are considered likely. The total cost is EUR 170,000 a year. However, the express buses should not run on weekends for the time being. This caused criticism in the district council.

Line 512 Erding Airport is the busiest in the entire district. Since January 13, the company Scharf has been using articulated buses at the busiest times, increasing the capacity from 104 to 144 passengers. The articulated bus travels four times in each direction in the early morning and late afternoon, Katrin Neueder reported from the administration. This reinforcement means additional costs of around EUR 95,000 a year.

20-minute intervals between Erding and the airport

Now the district councilors went one step further and paved the way for an express connection. The buses only go from Erding to the Schwaig business park and from there to the airport. District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer (CSU) reported that it was not possible to connect the visitor park due to circulation reasons. However, he referred to the S-Bahn S1 and S8.

According to Neueder "the express journeys fit well into the previous cycle pattern and condense the previous 40-minute cycle into a 20-minute cycle". A total of twelve additional trips would be offered. Start in Erding is at 4.20, 5.33, 7.13, 16.13, 17.33 and 18.53. In the opposite direction, the buses leave Moos-Airport at 4.57am, 6.15am, 7.55am, 16.55pm, 6.15pm and 7.45pm. According to Neueder, the journey time will be 25 minutes, a saving of eight minutes. The articulated buses would then be withdrawn from circulation.

Erding, Oberding and the airport pay the additional costs

Bayerstorfer wants the express bus to start from the point at which a construction site timetable comes into effect due to the renovation of the ED9 Erding – Niederding district road. "In this way we prevent a double change of the regular timetable in a short time," said the district administrator. He assumes that Erding, Oberding and the airport will share in the approximately 170,000 euros additional costs. The regulation should apply until the S-Bahn ring closure is complete.

The express buses were approved by the committee. But there was also criticism. Hans Schreiner (FW) spoke of a "step in the right direction", but criticized that shift workers, who often had to work until midnight, had nothing of the express buses. He was even more bothered that this improvement should not apply on weekends. "On Saturdays and Sundays we only have an 80-minute cycle here." Hans Peis (CSU) and Ulla Dieckmann (SPD) also regretted the restriction to the working days. Peis said: "There is also regular service at the airport on weekends."

Bayerstorfer said: "The first step is gradual improvements." A gradual further expansion is conceivable. Neueder seconded: "There is always the possibility to make requests for the next annual schedule, which comes into force in December."
