Norbert Blüm: "I feel like a puppet that they have pulled the strings"
According to “Zeit”, Blüm had fallen into a coma after a sepsis and has not been able to move his arms or legs since. The 84-year-old left the hospital after spending months in the past week. "I feel like a puppet that they have pulled the strings so that their parts dangle incoherently in the air," wrote Blüm in the article that he dictated to his wife according to "Zeit".
He lived an intense public life - "at times as a political boxer," continued Blüm. Looking back in the wheelchair horizon is different than in the conventional panoramic view. "I judge some events in my life differently than before, and the wheelchair forms the watershed." He has now fled into the arms of the family again. "I'm home."
Blüm was in the cabinet of Helmut Kohl's minister for labor and social order for 16 years.
