LE FIGARO. - On the eve of the first round, what is your view on the campaign which is ending?

Martine VASSAL. - I'm a little disappointed. It was not a campaign on the merits, but a campaign "against". An "everything except Vassal" was organized. This is why I refused to debate with my opponents before the first round. They wouldn't stop hitting me. None of them proposed a vision for the territory and for the metropolis. Too bad.

You have complained four times. Has the debate of ideas been stifled by a climate of violence?

I refuse to believe that certain competitors may have committed acts of violence to compensate for their deficiencies on the merits. It would be unfortunate.

Do you fear a strong abstention, aggravated by the coronavirus?

Coronavirus is a real problem. But arrangements have been made. I hope, for the sake of democracy, that there will not be too much abstention on March 15 and 22. Especially since today I am almost alone
