Municipal 2020: what does the geography of RN lists reveal to municipal governments?

The National Gathering aligns 392 lists in municipalities with more than 3,500 inhabitants. This figure is down (- 28%) compared to the municipal election of 2014 where the FN had managed to build 545 lists. This mobilization led to the election of nearly 1,500 frontist municipal councilors. But some of these new elected officials threw in the towel during their mandate. The number of these defections is estimated at nearly 500. The party favored this year a "qualitative" logic, and it should be noted that the drop in the number of lists corresponds roughly to the proportion of defections recorded during the term of office.

An absence in cities with a high RN vote

Of 1090 municipalities with more than 9000 inhabitants, the RN is present in 302 of them. If this score is not negligible (LREM aligns about 250), the party of the finalist in the last presidential election is absent in more than two thirds of the main municipalities.
