Municipal in Paris: in the 19th arrondissement the PS determined to keep a stronghold

2020-03-11T18:55:19.221Z

Well anchored in the 19th century, outgoing mayor François Dagnaud (PS) will have to face opponents who accuse him of having abandoned a party

"I am given as a favorite, but I take the ballot very seriously". No triumphalism before the hour, with François Dagnaud, candidate (PS) for his own succession, in this district acquired on the left for 25 years.

19th century mayor since 2013 after having inherited the seat of his predecessor Roger Madec, elected in the second round in 2014, with 64.5% of the vote, François Dagnaud will not have to face, this time, the historic right-wing opponent Jean -Jacques Giannesini. But Rachida Dati (LR), Agnès Buzyn (LREM) and Cédric Villani nevertheless sent three candidates to his lands.

100% organic canteens for environmentalists

Land that the outgoing mayor claims to plow, and not only in the countryside: “the balance sheet is there, with 4600 places in crèches, the renovation of avenue de Flandre, of the Halle Secrétan. But also the vegetation: two linear forests, new parks, the creation of the rail farm, on the small belt ", details the mayor-candidate who prides himself on having made the XIXth largest territory in France for collection selective food waste.

Dan Lert, candidate (EELV). LP / JD

"Not enough, retorts Dan Lert, candidate EELV, who feels that" ecology infuses in the nineteenth ", a district where the environmental vote rose to 12.9% in the last municipal elections. We are targeting 100% organic canteens and a daily vegetarian alternative. And, of course, we will continue to fight for the small belt, by proposing a discovery walk of biodiversity, and against concreteisation and densification ”.

Big drug safety concerns

But the 19th century is also one of the districts in north-eastern Paris which has suffered the full force of the migration crisis since 2015. "15,000 people have slept on the sidewalks," recalls Dan Lert.

The opportunity for Olivier Rouxel (LREM) to tackle the outgoing: “I will, for my part, be a responsible mayor: whether it be exiles, crack consumers, cleanliness, François Dagnaud always rejects responsibility on the others, the State, the regional prefecture, the City… I believe that the mayor has his share to play. In particular in the fight against drug addiction, where it is necessary to enter into a police-justice conjunction while promoting health and social support: we will put 400 municipal police on the streets, who will patrol day and night. People are angry in the most impacted areas: they feel completely abandoned ”.

The interested party says: "I never put the dust under the carpet! Each time, we fought, for the exiles, with a demand for dignified shelter. As for crack, I am the only one to speak about it without demagogy: addicts must be removed from the public space, offered to them as places of reception. I also intend to redevelop the square of Stalingrad, a hotbed of traffic ”.

A feeling of abandonment?

Marie Toubiana, LR candidate, goes even further: “François Dagnaud, it's Anne Hidalgo! He did not assume his role as borough mayor in the service of the inhabitants and that is why I remain convinced that the 19th century can be taken. My watchword? Provide security with an armed municipal police, video surveillance cameras: it is inadmissible to see, in the gardens of Eole, children playing alongside drug addicts ”.

Rosa-Parks station (19th century). Sarah Legrain, LFI LP / JD candidate

"He is not really absent, tempers Sarah Legrain (LFI), anchored in the 19th century and carried by the very good score of Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the presidential election, but the mayor follows Anne Hidalgo, while we are closer inhabitants. And I think I can create a surprise! People have a real feeling of abandonment, of territorial inequality in all areas, including security, the impression that what is happening here would not take place in other boroughs. They also know that we will not compromise in any way with the presidential party. "
