Caution on public transport to prevent COVID-19 2:05

(CNN Spanish) - Starting this Thursday, all people arriving in Guatemala on direct flights from Europe will have to go through seven days of isolation in a hospital south of the capital, due to the coronavirus alarm.

The measure was announced this Wednesday by President Alejandro Giammattei, in public activity.

"If you have relatives in Europe, tell them that today is the last day to enter Guatemala via direct flights, from Europe to Guatemala. Because starting tomorrow, whoever wants to come to Guatemala is going to have to go to Villa Nueva for seven days, to be locked up, "bound", to make sure they don't bring the virus from Europe, "said Giammattei.
