(CNN Spanish) - The Argentine government suspended tournaments, competitions, preparatory tours and / or sporting events to be held in the country in March on Wednesday.

In a statement published this Wednesday by the Sports Secretariat of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, they explained that the decision is based on the recommendations of international organizations in reference to the coronavirus and "within the framework of the preventive measures recommended by the health authorities."

On the other hand, in a series of tweets CONMEBOL reported that the Copa Libertadores and South American matches in Paraguay will take place behind closed doors "as ordered by the local public administration."

The Confederation also indicated that it was receiving consultations on the Qatar 2022 qualifying rounds, reminding them that the competition is organized by FIFA and "any news about it will be communicated by the official channels of the parent entity."
