The Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections announced the closing of the door to run for membership in the People's Assembly for the third legislative role, as 8,735 people applied for candidacy in the various governorates.
The head of the committee, Counselor Haider Rahma, stated in a statement to SANA that the number of applicants reached with the closing of the nomination door at seven in the evening today in Damascus 841 and Damascus countryside 778 and Aleppo 950 and in the areas of Aleppo 1063, Tartous 610, Hama 835, Homs 891, Lattakia 631, Daraa 431, As-Suwayda 148 and Idlib 346 Deir ez-Zor 332, Hasaka 427 and Raqqa 276, and in Quneitra 195.
The number of members of the People's Assembly from all governorates is 250, of whom 127 are members of the workers and peasants sector, category "A", and the rest are in the sector of the rest of the groups of people, category "B".
The People's Assembly elections will be held on the 13th of next April as defined by Decree No. 76 of 2020.
