Holzkirchen - How can the station be designed in the future? At the beginning of the year many Holzkirchner thought about this, should they bring in their ideas for the redesign of the station area (we reported). Markus Brautsch and Tobias Eder from the Amberg University of Technology were also working on the new station as part of the new partial energy use plan (we reported). E-mobility played an important role in their considerations.

The planners thought that it would be possible for taxis, bicycles, car sharing offers and buses to go electrically through Holzkirchen and the region in the future. That is why it is necessary to create charging options for stationary traffic as well. "You have to design an offer to provide options," said Eder. He explained this using a practical example: He expected a total of 250 parking spaces on the east side of the station, half for the residents as a park and ride. Then, with a 28 percent share of e-mobility by 2030, as he had already explained in the neighborhood between Tölzer and Baumgartenstrasse (we reported), 50 park-and-ride spaces with a charging station would be required.

Of course, these would not have to be set up immediately after the redesign. "This is being developed gradually," said Eder. The aim is to make it possible to regulate the expansion of the charging stations and to have the necessary infrastructure ready. By 2030, an additional electricity requirement of 20 megawatt hours per month is possible. According to Eder, the Holzkirchner municipal works ideally operate the charging stations. This could create a kind of “wooden church card”, as he had already suggested in the neighborhood, with which citizens could pay electricity and parking fees.

Robert Wiechmann (Greens) doubted the need for 50 charging stations on the east side of the station alone. "Isn't that nothing?" He wanted to know. "Most people charge their e-cars at home." Eder agreed in principle that nationwide charging stations would be needed more urgently in Munich, where relatively few citizens had their own garage for charging. But: "You create the possibility for commuters who don't have a charging station at home," he said.

Another point: “Maybe it will also be possible to bring people who travel longer distances to Holzkirchen.” In other words, travelers can recharge their cars at the train station and shop in town - provided that the redesign of the area offers this option. "From today's perspective, we should hold that up," recommended Eder. What he did not consider: This idea would increase the traffic in the village, and that, where there is currently a debate about traffic congestion.

Hans Putzer (SPD) wanted to know whether photovoltaic systems were being considered. "We can examine this in more detail if we know the direction," said Eder, referring to the outstanding plan, how the station should look. The results of the online survey will be presented at the municipal council meeting on Tuesday, March 17. However, Brautsch already offered that he and Eder could accompany the redesign of the station from an energy perspective.
