The number of trains will be gradually adapted to the falling demand. This is not an "emergency timetable".
In addition, the train attendants on regional trains will no longer check the tickets until further notice. This is done to protect passengers and employees, said the spokeswoman. The conductors continue to ride on the trains. The "Spiegel" had previously reported on the measures taken by the railways. Accordingly, the timetables should be thinned out from Tuesday or Wednesday.
Due to its exceptional location, the railway also extends the options for customers to postpone or cancel their trip. "The goodwill regulations will apply in the coming weeks, so it is not necessary to report immediately," the company emphasized. Refunds could also be submitted after the booked day of travel.
For all tickets purchased up to March 13 with travel dates between March 13 and April 30, passengers could postpone their journey and use the ticket flexibly for the booked route until June 30. For the discounted saver prices and super saver prices, the train is canceled.
According to the Deutsche Bahn, it is also possible to convert it into travel vouchers: tickets purchased until March 13 for trips up to April 30 can be converted into a travel voucher free of charge. This also applies to saver prices and super saver prices. Requests for conversion into a travel voucher could also be sent after the booked day of travel.
