The mother of the missing student testified in the trial against the urgent suspect. The disappearance of Georgine almost 13 years ago is a stroke of fate that has changed the whole family, said the 55-year-old. She was ill from the shock and still suffers from massive psychological problems. Her son was also "mentally broken". She had kept in touch with the police over the years and had never given up hope that her daughter was still alive.

A 44-year-old has to answer before the Berlin district court. He is accused of luring, raping and strangling the 14-year-old girl in a cellar in his Moabit apartment in September 2006. The body has not been found to date.

The accused is said to have told a covert investigator that he had "disposed of" them in a dumpster in the yard of his house. After his arrest in late 2018, the German with Turkish roots rejected the allegations.
