Engineer Omar Shalt, President of the Damascus Countryside Agriculture Chamber, stated that the idea of ​​manufacturing units was launched by linking the project of home gardens that produce a surplus of vegetables to these units by manufacturing their products to achieve added value for targeted rural families to complete the production of a product ready for marketing with high quality specifications, pointing to the implementation of a training program for families By technicians specializing in the standards for using these units to produce clean and healthy products that can be marketed easily.

Shalt said in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the goal of its establishment is to manufacture the surplus from the production of home gardens and secure an income source for families working in the manufacturing unit as well as manufacturing for others in exchange for specific wages, and therefore the manufacturing unit is equipped with the tools necessary to operate it at a value of 2 million pounds, including labor supplies such as gas and fridge Various times indicated that the processing and distribution of 16 food-processing units for agricultural products in all areas of Damascus countryside formed small income-generating projects and a nucleus for future expansion with an average project for food processing.

Shalt pointed out that the food processing units project is held in cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Federation of Syrian Agricultural Chambers and the World Food Program to support the process of social and economic development and help rural women heads to enter the labor market and improve the standard of living of their families through the manufacture of various products of dairy, cheese, fruit and vegetables.

It is mentioned that the project is one of the micro-agricultural projects, and it contributes to achieving self-sufficiency for the targeted families of vegetables in addition to achieving added value through manufacturing the surplus in the food processing unit and selling it directly.
