Not only the businesses that close because of the corona virus are worried about their existence. The bus companies in the Weilheim-Schongau district also fear that some of their businesses will have to close. This is why representatives of five bus travel companies met for a crisis discussion.

District - "We are all in the same boat and face nothing", Anton Oppenrieder, owner of the bus company of the same name in Eberfing, opened the meeting of private bus operators from the Weilheim-Schongau district. Many of the entrepreneurs came together to discuss possible solutions that would suit both the self-employed and the customers.

Corona virus crisis: bus companies make substantial losses

Although they are all competitors, they try to stick together in this uncertain time and to overcome the fear of existence together. The bus operators understand the necessary government restrictions. But the drop out of the school lines - due to the closing of the schools - was "a big blow for many," Oppenrieder continues.

"Depending on the operating situation, the drop in sales is 70 to 100 percent," explains the bus operator. If this situation should continue for a longer period of time, numerous bus companies could close and would be "no longer covered" in the district of Weilheim-Schongau. The attendees agreed by being silent and nodding their heads.

"Season is over" - fears of existence are getting bigger

"The season is over," says Norbert Ortner, owner of "Busreisen Ortner". Because a normalization within a few months is not realistic, it takes years before the bus companies can stabilize again.

Therefore, the main thing now is to operate damage limitation. "Of course, there are no cancellation costs for customers when a travel warning applies," says Oppenrieder. But if someone is currently canceling for a later date, for which there is still no travel ban or travel warning, the entrepreneurs want to charge a uniform cancellation rate. This would treat customers fairly and bus operators would also have to expect roughly the same losses.

"With each other instead of against each other" is Oppenrieder's motto. Because everyone would have the same goal: to maintain their existence in order to continue to be there for their customers.

Many stores have already closed and are concerned about their future. But there wasn't much going on in Weilheim on the last day of the store opening.

Due to the current demand for disinfectants, the market has been swept empty. Now pharmacists in the Weilheim-Schongau district are breaking new ground.
