Gerhard Betz, as he himself says, achieved an “incredibly good result” in the mayoral election in Nandlstadt. Despite the euphoria, he is already thinking about the tasks ahead.
Nandlstadt - It couldn't have gone better: In the first ballot, Gerhard Betz prevailed against his two competitors in the mayoral election in Nandlstadt. The 46-year-old was able to collect 1576 votes, exactly twice as many as his competitor Franz Mayer (CSU) - Jens-Uwe Klein (IGN) ended up third with only 282 votes. Gerhard Betz's assessment is correspondingly positive: "The election campaign was a very good time" - not least because everything went fairly. And you can see from the result "that we were not only active in the election campaign, but also in between."
With regard to the performance of “his” UWN, Gerhard Betz is pleased “that there are many new market councilors on the committee” and that independent voters “represent every district in the market council”.
New Mayor Gerhard Betz: The last shift as an emergency medic is approaching
Gerhard Betz officially takes office as Mayor on May 1st. Until then, there is still a lot to do. He will do his last shifts as an EMT at the BRK and still fulfill his obligations as deputy guard - he has already quit his job. In addition, he would like to attend a three-day course for mayors at the end of April - later there will also be a two-week mayor training course.
The 46-year-old has also already thought about his first tasks as a local leader: "Very promptly" he would like to hold talks with the community employees in order to learn about the problems of the employees. "It will definitely be a lot of work," says Betz, referring to the approximately 100 employees. "But that's incredibly important to me."
Betz wants to “master the corona situation with a clear head”
The new town hall chief will probably also be concerned with the corona virus and its effects. But here Betz is self-confident: As an emergency medic, he is a specialist - the whole subject "does not worry me". He would master this "extraordinary situation with a clear head".
Until then, however, he still enjoys the "incredibly beautiful feeling" that he has been trusted by so many citizens. Why was he of all people, "the first mayor with long hair in the district", elected to the town hall? "Because of my honesty and my social skills, my openness and my closeness to the citizens," he suspects. And with a view to his new position, he says: "It's a nice feeling."
On 30 April, Mayor Jakob Hartl's term of office ended after 30 years - from then on Gerhard Betz became the first man in the community. The new market council meets for the first time at the constituent meeting, which will also take place in May.
