The Hospital Authority will set up testing centres at AsiaWorld-Expo and North Lantau Hospital from today (20th) to divert people who have entered the country from overseas with symptoms. Li Liye, a consultant doctor of emergency department at Tianshuiwei Hospital, met with reporters at the Asia Expo Pavilion, and stated that a testing center was set up recently because a large number of people returned from overseas, with 50 to 60 suspected cases per day; if the current mechanism is adopted, All suspected cases need to be sent to an isolation ward, putting pressure on the ward demand in the hospital.
Li Liye believes that the HA ’s approach at the temporary testing centers of Yabo and Lantau Hospital is to block at the source. If the case is suspected to be negative, they can immediately go home for home isolation; if it is positive, they can immediately send to the hospital for isolation . Thirty-three suspected cases were received today. Two of them were over the age of 60. They are now at North Lantau Hospital. The remaining 31 people are at Yabo. Their age is between 20 and 40.
When is the test result? Li Liye pointed out that nasal mucosa samples of 33 suspected cases had been sent to the laboratory at 11 am, and the results were expected to be available at about 7 pm 8 hours later.
