China's health authorities have announced that they will not register any new local cases of coronavirus on the Chinese mainland for the third consecutive day.
The National Health Committee noted in its report today, according to Xinhua news agency that 41 new confirmed cases of the virus have been recorded for people coming from abroad.
Of the 41 cases, 14 were registered in Beijing, 9 in Shanghai, 7 in Guangdong Province, 4 in Fujian Province, and 2 in each of Zhejiang
Shandong and Shaanxi respectively, one case in Sichuan Province, and 269 cases of foreigners were reported as of the end of yesterday.
590 people were discharged from hospital upon recovery yesterday, while the number of serious cases decreased by 173 to 1963.
The total confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland amounted to 81,008 cases, including 6,013 patients still receiving treatment and 71,740 patients discharged from hospital upon recovery, and 3,255 people died from the disease.
The committee said that there are still 106 people suspected of being infected with the virus, noting that 9,371 people who have been in close contact with the infected people are still under medical observation.
In Wuhan, the virus outbreak center, no new confirmed cases of the disease were reported, while Hubei Province recorded 7 new deaths, including 6 in Wuhan, bringing the total number of deaths in the province to 3,139.
