2020 local elections in the district of Fürstenfeldbruck: Mayor candidates at a glance

Fürstenfeldbruck - Preparations for local elections are in full swing in many parties and groups in the region. District Administrator Thomas Karmasin (CSU) will run for office again. Karmasin, born in Munich in 1962 and raised in Germering, has been a district administrator in the Fürstenfeldbruck district since 1996 - when he came into office and inherited his SPD predecessor, he was the youngest district administrator in Bavaria. Today Karmasin is one of the longest-serving district administrators in Bavaria - only Heinrich Trapp (Dingolfing-Landau, since 1991) and Herbert Eckstein (Roth, since 1993) are in office longer. Klaus Peter Söllner (Kulmbach) and Hubert Hafner (Günzburg) have been in office as long as Karmasin. At the end of June, Karmasin was nominated by the CSU.

Mammendorf's mayor Josef Heckl, like Franz Robeller in Hattenhofen, Andreas Spörl in Mittelstetten, Martin Schäfer in Gröbenzell, Hans Seidl in Maisach, Thomas Totzauer in Schöngeising, Erwin Fraunhofer in Jesenwang, Markus Kennerknecht in Grafrath, Andreas Haas in Germering, also want to start again. Norbert Riepl in Oberschweinbach, Andreas Magg in Olching, Joseph Schäffler in Moorenweis and Norbert Seidl in Puchheim.

However, Alling's long-standing City Hall chief Frederik Röder, Adelshofen Mayor Michael Raith, Althegnenberg Mayor Paul Dosch, Geltendorf Mayor Willi Lehmann and Pius Keller in Türkenfeld will no longer compete.

In mid-March, the municipal council in Egenhofen decided to install a full-time mayor in the future. With that, Josef Nefele can no longer compete due to age reasons. Michael Schanderl announced at the beginning of April that he no longer wanted to run for office in Emmering - just like Sandra Meissner in Kottgeisering at the end of June. Andrea Schweitzer from Landsberied decided to run again.

You can find out who wins the race in the result text of the municipal elections in Fürstenfeldbruck. You can find the latest news about the election in the news ticker for the Fürstenfeldbruck district, the ticker for Bavaria and the Munich election ticker.

Special feature in the city of Fürstenfeldbruck and Eichenau

The city of Fürstenfeldbruck is a specialty. Because of the illness of the previous OB, a new mayor had to be elected in 2017, whose term of office lasts six years. In January 2019, Mayor Erich Raff announced that he wanted to use the full term, i.e. to remain in office until 2023. In Bruck, only the city council is newly elected. For the first time, the satire party "Die Party" is standing for the city council - just like the party "Die Linke".

No mayor election takes place in Eichenau either. Acting City Councilor Peter Münster (FDP) is also elected until 2023. When he was elected, Peter Münster was the first liberal town hall chief in the Fürstenfeldbruck district since the Federal Republic was founded. Eichenau is used to choosing the mayor and the municipal council separately from each other. Münster's predecessor Hubert Jung, who had been the town hall chief for 18 years, had been chosen out of line, which then continued.

Lists for the elections to the city and municipal councils and the district council

district

The CSU has already determined its list for the district council. Now the free voters have also presented their list, which is led by the candidate for the district administrator. The list of the SPD for the district council in Fürstenfeldbruck is also there, just like the list of the Greens for the district council. The FDP wants to significantly increase the number of seats in the district council. The UBV - an association of independent voter associations - has also nominated its candidates. The AfD announced that it would only make a list for the election to the district council, which then happened. And the ÖDP is once again sending candidates into the race for seats in the district council. For the first time ever, left-wing candidates are applying for the district council.

Maisach

The CSU Maisach was the first group ever to adopt its list for the municipal council election. The free voters in Maisach have also already formed, just like the Greens in Maisach and the SPD Maisach with a surprise. The FDP is also competing for seats in the municipal council with a list.

Alling

The list of the new citizens' association was determined in Alling. The candidates of the CSU are also determined, just like the applicants of the Biburg-Holzhausen village community. The Greens want to compete in Alling for the first time, albeit without their own local association. Citizenship Alling (BsA) has also nominated its list. As the 6th grouping in Alling, the Free Voters put up their candidates, followed by the SPD.

Althegnenberg

The Greens in Althegnenberg have compiled their first list for the municipal council election, including the candidate for mayor. The Althegnenberg Citizens' Initiative nominated its candidates, including the candidate for mayor. The SPD Althegnenberg is running without a candidate for mayor, but with tried and tested powers. At CSU Althegnenberg, more women than men compete for seats on the municipal council. The village community has renewed its name and named the candidates.

Adelshofen

The list of the voters community Adelshofen-Nassenhausen-Luttenwang has been drawn up. The top candidate is the candidate for mayor's office. The list of the CSU / BfANL in Adelshofen is also nominated.

Emmering

The list of free voters was drawn up first. The CSU in Emmering also nominated its candidates with the mayor candidate as the top candidate. The SPD also wants to move back into the municipal council, which also provides a candidate for mayor. In addition, the Greens want to move into the local council for the first time. The FDP in Emmering also wants to send more people to the municipal council than before.

Puchheim

The SPD has drawn up its list behind closed doors in Puchheim. The CSU also set up its candidates in Puchheim, just like the FDP in Puchheim for the first time in many years. The applicants for free voters in Puchheim are also nominated. The Greens in the city compete with these candidates. Puchheim (ubp), the independent citizen, was probably the last group to present their candidates.

Egenhofen

The New List Egenhofen was launched in Egenhofen, which had to collect signatures after the nomination, which also succeeded. The electoral community of Egenhofen has also formed. It is not a candidate for mayor - just like the CSU Egenhofen. The citizens' association Aufkirchen (BVA) also wants to move back into the town council. The citizens' association Gesamtgemeinde Egenhofen (BGE) also applies for seats on the municipal council.

Eichenau

The CSU in Eichenau has also named its candidates, just like the SPD. The list of Greens in Eichenau is also there. The Free Voters also nominated their candidates. The FDP has also drawn up its candidates in Eichenau.

Germering

This is the list of the CSU in Germering. The FDP nominated its list in October. In early November, the Greens made their list, followed by the SPD, which is starting a new team. For the first time without a list community, the free voters Germering go into the election campaign. The ÖDP is back with the party-free citizens in Germering for the city council. For the first time ever, the Left wants to conquer seats in the city council.

Fürstenfeldbruck

In Fürstenfeldbruck, representatives of the "Die Linke" party are applying for the city council for the first time. The CSU Fürstenfeldbruck also sent its candidates into the race - with a big surprise. The list of the SPD Fürstenfeldbruck is also there, just like the list of free voters in the city. The candidates for the ÖDP in the city are also nominated - with a familiar face. The Greens want to win six seats in the election to the city council. The FDP also sends candidates into the race for seats on the city council. With a number of new faces, the BBV is running for the city council election. The satirical party "The Party" with its chairman Florian Weber has now drawn up a list. However, the group needed supporter signatures to be able to compete, which they got together before the deadline.

Hattenhofen

The candidates of the UWG Haspelmoor are nominated - and also the candidate for mayor. The village community also sent its candidates into the race. The young voters in Hattenhofen are also starting again.

Kottgeisering

The CSU in Kottgeisering has nominated its candidates for the municipal council election. The Greens in town even had to deviate from the statutes because they have far more women than men as applicants. The free voters in Kottgeisering have also formed - even if that was not easy. The citizens' association (BV) has now sent their candidates into the race. The SPD has probably also sent its applicants into the race as probably the last party in town.

Landsberied

The list has now been drawn up by the Free Voters Unity group around Mayor Andrea Schweitzer. The CSU / electoral village community, which has now also nominated its candidates, also wants to get as many seats on the local council as possible. The Greens have now also presented their list for the election.

Mittelstetten

The group "We for our community" has been newly formed, which has meanwhile also nominated its candidates. The local CSU has also nominated its candidates. The "Citizens-Independent" (BU) group has seven goals.

Moorenweis

The CSU was the first group in town to nominate its list. There are a number of new faces on it. The free voters (community) will also compete again, just like the civil association Moorenweis.

Oberschweinbach

In the place in the north-western district there will probably only be one list, namely the CSU / village community.

Olching

The SPD Olching nominated its candidates for the city council with a surprise. The CSU Olching has also nominated its candidates. The Greens in Olching even voted for the best places on the list. The free voters in Olching are also pursuing ambitious goals. The ÖDP is also applying for seats on the city council. The FDP is also applying for seats in the city council.

Groebenzell

At the end of October, the UWG named its candidates, just like the SPD. Shortly afterwards the Greens put up their candidates. Now the list of the CSU is in Gröbenzell, led by the mayor candidate. With 15 candidates, the free voters in Groebenzell are running for local elections. The FDP also sends a list in the race for places in the local council.

Grafrath

The list of the CSU / Citizens' Association is there. Unity Grafrath also nominated its candidates. It does not provide its own candidate for mayor. The Greens also voted on who would apply for the local council. The Grafrath list of women also wants to move back into the town council, just like the SPD, who found it difficult to compile a list. The citizens' candidates for Grafrath (BfG) also want to win as many seats as possible.

Mammendorf

The free voters Mammendorf have drawn up their list. She is led by social worker Stefan Bauer. For the first time ever, the Greens are also applying for seats on the municipal council. The CSU Mammendorf has now also nominated its candidates, as did the Mammendorf community around Mayor Josef Heckl shortly thereafter. The Mammendorfer SPD wants to defend at least its only seat in the municipal council.

Jesenwang

The CSU Jesenwang has drawn up its list. The CSU Jesenwang has twice as many applicants as there are seats in the municipal council - which initially seemed quite unique, but was repeated when the list of unity Jesenwang was drawn up.

Schöngeising

The SPD in Schöngeising has named the candidates for the election to the municipal council. With its list, the CSU in Schöngeising wants to chase away the absolute majority in the local council again. For the first time ever, the Greens are running for the municipal council election in Schöngeising. The free voters around Mayor Thomas Totzauer have now drawn up their list.

Turk field

The CSU Türkenfeld competes with experienced but also new candidates for seats in the municipal council. The candidates of the free voters compete with her for seats on the local council. For the first time, the Greens are also trying to get seats on the committee. A proven force in the town council is also back - the village community has drawn up its list.

Remarkable: all candidates who want to compete with new lists have the necessary signatures together.

General information about local elections in Bavaria

In the municipal and district elections in Bavaria, around 39500 municipal elected representatives are elected for a basic period of six years - in the municipalities the first mayor or mayor and the members of the municipal council, in the districts the district and district councils. Citizens vote in general, equal, immediate, free and secret choices. The Ministry of the Interior oversees these local elections.

When the first mayor or mayor and the district councilors are elected, each person entitled to vote has one vote. Whoever receives more than half of the valid votes cast, i.e. the absolute majority, is elected.

As a rule, each person entitled to vote has as many votes for the election of local council members and district council members as there are local council members and district councils to be elected. The votes can be divided among the applicants for an election proposal (list) or among applicants for various election proposals (breading) and each applicant can usually be given up to three votes (cumulative), explains the Ministry of the Interior.

A proposed list can also be accepted as a whole using the list cross. This gives each applicant one vote in the order listed. It is also possible to delete individual candidates from the list. If votes (simple or heaped) are distributed to individual candidates of this nomination and other nominations in addition to a list cross, the votes cast individually are counted and remaining votes are allocated to the unmarked applicants in the ticked list in the order listed there. It is also possible to distribute the votes to be given to individual applicants without a cross in the list (individually or, in the case of ratio selection, also heaped).

The number of mandates is graded according to the respective population of the municipality or district.

All persons who are Union citizens on election day, have reached the age of 18, have been living in the municipality / district with their main focus of life for at least two months and are not excluded from the right to vote, as the local authority of the District Office Fürstenfeldbruck explains.

To determine the election results of the municipal council members and district councils, all valid votes are added together in a list. The number of seats in the committees attributable to an election proposal is no longer calculated using the Hare-Niemeyer quota system, but now using the Sainte-Laguё / Schepers seat allocation procedure.

The seats due to a nomination will be allocated to the applicants in the order of their number of votes in the election.

The state government sets the date for the election of local councils and district councils . On this day, the vast majority of municipalities and districts are elected the first mayors or mayors and district councilors. Deviations between the electoral period of municipal councils and district councils and the term of office of the first mayors / mayors and district councilors can occur in individual cases if the term of office ends prematurely. In this case, the local legal supervisory authority sets the date for the new election.

The maximum age for professional public officials is 67 years from the municipal election in 2020 at the beginning of the term (usually on the May 1 following the election). Before that, it was 65 years old. There are full-time mayors in the Bruck region in Olching, Germering, Gröbenzell, Fürstenfeldbruck, Puchheim, Alling, Mammendorf, Eichenau, Maisach, Moorenweis and Grafrath. The other mayors work on a voluntary basis, which is usually the case in municipalities with up to 5,000 inhabitants, unless the municipal council decides otherwise. It is increasingly difficult to exercise the office of mayor part-time. How much a mayor earns depends primarily on the size of a municipality, but also on possible surcharges. In a medium-sized municipality such as Eichenau, the mayor is paid according to B2, which is just under 7,000 euros.

Also visit our local election topic page. Also interesting: The choice is particularly exciting here. The demand of the FDP, which distances itself from one of its members, must be considered rather unique.

Our newspapers also held panel discussions in Egenhofen, Emmering and Alling. Events in Gröbenzell and Olching also met with great interest.
